Commercial groundworks & drainage
Prepare the site for the agreed surface package. Define excavation, retained construction, levels, water routes and the handover condition of work supplied by others.
Structure First. Surface Second.
Structure first
Understand the supporting construction before choosing the finish.
Interfaces recorded
Make responsibilities for drainage and adjoining work explicit.
Variations agreed
Any additional remedial work is reviewed and priced before commitment.
Define the package
A clear brief. An agreed scope.
Preparation boundaries
Identify excavation, retained materials and new supporting layers in the scope. Construction details follow site review and the relevant design.
Drainage interfaces
Share drainage layouts and outlet information. Discharge permissions and specialist design responsibilities must be established rather than assumed.
Work by others
Where another contractor provides the base or drainage, agree the handover condition and checks required before surfacing starts.
Before a proposal
The site requirements shape the package.
Structure First. Surface Second. Review loading, retained construction, water routes and interfaces with work by others before agreeing the surface. Dan will clarify what is included, who is responsible and which decisions remain outstanding.
- Ground conditions, retained base and excavation requirements
- Services information and restrictions on excavation
- Proposed levels, falls and agreed drainage outlets
- Materials and preparation supplied by others
- Access, construction sequence and documentation

From scope to handover.
- 01

Site location, intended use, loading and existing construction.
- 02

Agreed preparation, drainage interfaces, surface and exclusions.
- 03

Access, phasing and required dates reviewed before commitment.

Handover
Record the agreed work and provide relevant aftercare guidance.
Project questions.
Can you surface over a base supplied by another contractor?
Only after its condition, levels, compaction and drainage interfaces have been reviewed. Necessary remedial work is priced and agreed separately.
Is drainage included automatically?
No. The proposal states the agreed drainage work and connections, exclusions and responsibilities for any design or work by others.
What should we send with an enquiry?
Send the site location, intended use, approximate area, drawings or specification, and required dates. Identify work by others and any tender deadline so the review starts with a clear brief.
Is a date confirmed when we enquire?
No. Scope, access arrangements and the proposed programme need review before dates are agreed. Tell Dan about fixed deadlines at the outset.
A price against a defined package.
Provide your specification and programme so Dan can review preparation, construction, drainage, edges, waste, access and work by others together. The proposal records allowances, exclusions and responsibilities; any alternative is checked against the same requirements.
Discuss relevant delivery evidence with Dan as part of that review. Where this page shows a supplier example, it illustrates the material and is explicitly identified—not presented as Hinchliffe sector work.
Discuss your site with Dan.
Send the site brief, drawings and required dates. Dan will contact you to clarify the scope and agree the next step. Construction, responsibilities and programme are confirmed in the agreed proposal.
